"A Sprinkling of the Sea" is a double single by Harry Waters and Roger Evernden, released as a part of the Double Take series by Yellow Rose Records. It features two distinct compositions which originated from the same basic idea.
Music is often used to describe something that simply can't be expressed in words. A Sprinkling of the Sea attempts to capture both an image of the sun sparkling on the sea and perhaps the sound of the sea. The title is ambiguous – what is a sprinkling of the sea? But it doesn't matter because these two Double Take interpretations of the piece each express a different sense of the ideas hidden in the words. The composition started with a musical theme by Roger Evernden and was developed by Harry Waters. Each musician has created a distinctive performance. The two versions are very different from one another – which is the unique idea behind the Double Take series from Yellow Rose Records: two artists – one collaborative composition – two individual interpretations – released as one single. The joy of listening is in the individual performances, and in the differences between them!
